So everyone deserves a decadent dessert every now and then! This is a rather delicious and special chocolate tart that would be perfect as a dessert to share with friends or family. As it is quite rich serve it with plenty of creme fraiche or cream!
Chocolate Orange Tart
1 x 200g packet dessert shortcrust pastry
300ml double cream
75g dark chocolate, chopped
a scant TBSP of espresso
4 egg yolks
55g caster sugar
grated zest of 2 oranges
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180’C. Roll out the pastry until it is £1 thick and use it to line a 15cm flan ring.
- Prick the base of the tart lightly with a fork. Line the case with baking parchment and pour in some baking beans and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the beans and bake again for a further 5 minutes.
- Heat the cream in a heavy saucepan until it is just bubbling but not boiling, add the chocolate and espresso. Allow the chocolate to melt.
- Beat the yolks and sugar together and pour add the melted chocolate mixture. Add the orange zest.
- Pour into the pastry case and bake for 45 minutes until just set.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool before slicing. Dust with a little cocoa powder if desired.
