Mars Bar Brownies

All your little bakers will love creating these moreish treats over the summer holidays! Change the chocolate bars you use to create your own versions. You could try Chocolate Orange chunks, Bounty or Maltesers – the choices are endless!

MARS BAR BROWNIES

100g butter

Mars bars (about 2 bars)

50g self-raising flour

40g cocoa

2 eggs

200g caster sugar

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Line a 20cm square tin or 25 x 15cm rectangular tin with baking parchment or greased greaseproof paper.
  3. Melt butter slowly in small pan or microwave then remove from heat. Leave on one side to cool.
  4. Chop up the Mars bar into small cubes of approx. 0.5cm.
  5. Break the eggs and place with the sugar in a medium sized mixing bowl. Whisk until light and fluffy.
  6. Whisk in the cooled butter.
  7. Sift the flour and cocoa over the top of the egg mixture and use a metal spoon or spatula to fold in with a figure of 8 movement.
  8. Fold in the chopped Mars bars.
  9. Pour in the prepared tin and roughly level the surface.
  10. Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes until the cake has a dull crust on the top and the sides are coming away from the edge of the tin.
  11. Leave it in the tin to cool as it is very soft.
  12. Cut into approx 16 squares and dust with icing sugar or drizzle over white chocolate.

Kids Halloween Cooking

Kids Halloween Cooking Class – come and join us for another great, fun filled cooking adventure as we get ready for Autumn and all things Spookatcular!! This course is a fantastic seasonal treat to keep little (and not so little!) ones entertained throughout the school holidays. The course is very hands on and everyone will take home not only lots of delicious tasting goodies but also some new found cooking skills. Mums, Dads, Carers, Aunties, Uncles and Grandparents are very welcome to attend with those mini chefs under 10 years old whilst those budding chefs over 10 can join the class on their own or with friends. A great idea for school holiday fun and also getting a few new recipes under your belt before Halloween arrives! Typical areas which may be covered – Spooky Spider Pizzas, Halloween Cookies, Wiggly Pastry Snakes, Pumpkin Patch Brownies and Slime Cupcakes.
